5) Save Your Raises and Bonuses

Again, for anyone living paycheck to paycheck as so many do, receiving a raise or a bonus can be a Godsend. There is almost always a list of the things you need but usually don’t have the extra money for and that bonus or raise disappears as fast as it appeared. However, if you have managed to stick to a budget you are living comfortably with, you may want to consider adding it to your savings and forget you ever got it. If it is a raise of an hourly wage, then calculate the increase and add that amount to the total you save from each paycheck. The satisfaction of seeing your savings grow will hopefully out weigh the desire to spend it.
