2) Always Participate in Employee Retirement Plans
There are employers who will manage your retirement plan for you, which gives you professional fund management without the hassles. You don’t have to know anything about investing to save in this way. Sometimes an employer may even offer to fund your retirement plan that is basically free money. Nobody should turn down that kind of offer. Many of these kinds of employee-funded retirement savings programs include “matching” by employers. That means that for every dollar you contribute of your own money, the employer contributes an equal amount. Some employees don’t take advantage of those opportunities because they don’t set aside any cash to pay into their retirement fund. That’s a shame, because having an employer-funded retirement plan is one of the easiest ways to grow a retirement nest egg.
