8) Shop the Sales
Going shopping without a list can be dangerous, especially food shopping. Mom always had a list, a book of coupons, shopped the sales and did her grocery shopping at four different supermarkets to take advantage of each stores weekly specials. Try this, make your shopping list, then take your grocery stores weekly circular and see how many items on your list that are on sale. Another tip is to buy the store brand if your name brand isn’t on sale. It may not seem like a big difference, but it adds up. Also, most large supermarkets will give you a total savings on your receipt, so you can see how much buying the sale items saved you. If your grocery store has a club card, you can usually see cumulative savings on the bottom of your receipt as well.
