11) Take A Peek

The best way not to fall victim to door-to-door scammer’s is to not speak with them at all. But how do you know who’s at the door before you open it? Simply install a peephole. This allows you to decide before even opening the door whether or not you want to talk to the person on the other side. If it’s not someone you know, then don’t open the door. Using a peephole is an especially good tactic for those who feel intimidated, flustered, or uncomfortable when presented with pushy salespeople. Avoid the situation completely by not engaging in the situation at all. The same idea can be applied to the home phone. Install caller ID for the home phone and know who’s calling before you pick up. If it’s an unfamiliar or “unknown” number, chances are you don’t want to talk to that person.
