3) Defrosting the Windshield with Hot Water
Depending where you live, you may end up having an iced-over windshield in the middle of winter. And perhaps you’ll think that the best way to melt the ice is using hot water. This, however, is a very bad idea. If you quickly put hot water on icy glass, it will very likely shatter due to the temperature difference. Then you will be unable to drive the car at all. Instead, you will be better off using the car’s defrosting mechanism. This will safely remove the ice without damaging the vehicle. Additionally, if you want to help the process along, you can park in the sun so the ice will gradually melt. If you cannot afford to wait long for a clear windshield, invest in ice scrapers. These are made specifically for removing ice and snow, and will not ruin your windows.
