11) Using Household Window Cleaner on Tinted Windows

Having tinted windows on your car may be important to you, especially if you value your privacy or are sensitive to bright sunlight. If you want to maintain the tint surface, you must be careful of what you put on it. If you use typical window cleaners like Windex, you may be causing damage. Many window cleaners contain ammonia, which can discolor the tinted coating and make it brittle. In fact, your windows may even turn purple. Instead, you should look for car window cleaners or others that do not contain ammonia. Additionally, since many tints are made of Mylar, you should be gentle when cleaning it. Using a soft cloth, such as microfiber, is a good idea. Even with safe cleaners, you should not oversaturate the tint with cleaner. If any gets under the tinted coating, it may peel off the window.
