While lessons in foreign languages may not be an actual “thing,” they can be a highly valuable way to improve your communication skills as well as help boost your intellect. And since taking lessons or courses can cost a lot, free lesson offerings are something to pay attention to. There are so many websites which have lessons that you can study, including helpful audiovisual tools, which can introduce you to new languages. One such site in Duolingo, which also has an app for language learning on the go. By playing interactive games and engaging with the language itself, you will become better at understanding and speaking it. Other free resources include BBC’s language resources and italki, a site which allows you to get in touch with native speakers of different languages so that you can get experience conversing in whatever language you are trying to learn. There are also some free smart phone apps which will translate what you are saying in your language into that of another or teach you a new word every day.
