Everyone already has enough tension in their lives, and you don’t need to add to it with a stressful job. Stress is one of the leading contributors to poor health and chronic disease. If you are working under constant strain you are more vulnerable to high blood pressure, heart disease, and stroke. Your chances of being hospitalized or dying from a heart attack increase. You are also at risk for a whole range of emotional and psychological issues bad for your health and well-being. That’s why identifying the most stressful jobs can help you evaluate whether they are for you or not.
1) Enlisted Combat Soldier
While military officers can earn quite a bit of money, lower-ranking enlisted soldiers make only about $25,000 a year. With special bonuses for working in a war zone they earn about a total of $28,000. That’s not a lot of compensation, especially when you consider the risks and stresses of wartime deployment. Many soldiers die or experience severe injuries that will plague them the rest of their lives. Just as bad can be the horrors they witness or have to participate in to carry out their duties and survive. While there they get little sleep, little decent food, and are separated from their families and loved ones. Many of these soldiers return home with conditions of chronic stress, or even Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), that are so great the stress threatens their mental health for life.
